Valentine's Day Roses

I've had to miss a few of my evening classes, which has been all about making roses. So I'm trying to do it myself, with what I was shown in class, and my book by Peggy Porschen, which shows the same method.

I do prefer the guidance of the teacher. These roses are all work in progress. They are made using flowerpaste. They're different colours due to the assistant telling me the wrong thing (yet again). I wanted the dark pink ones. That's more my taste.

Somehow I've managed to post every day this month so far, don't think I'll be able to keep it up, as I'm trying to post interesting things, even if no one reads them (or purhaps leaves a comment!!!)

Claire your flowers are amazing, they look perfect! I've found a sugarcraft course near where I live starting in April for 10 weeks at £91! I've signed up to do and can't wait, i hope its good! How long did it take you to make these?

Hi Nicola, Good for you finding a course. My course is c£60 for 10 weeks, but we have to buy ALL our equipment and sugarpaste stuff (it costs a FORTUNE) I think my teacher is ace. Those flowers took a few hours, but I tried to do some more, and they went all wrong!!! I've been ill, and was getting stressed, that's no way to get good results! can't wait to see what you do! In Oct/ Nov time there's a British sugarcraft show in Birmingham NEC, I'm thinking of going!

Hey claire, Yeah i was considering going last nov to the sugarcraft show but never quite got round to it, it does look really though! I bought some sugarcraft books at the weekend in Oxfam and I noticed in there about how much equipment you need for it! Do you know of anywhere in brighton that sells sugarpaste and cake stuff? Im visiting some friends down there so if you know of any good shops please let me know! Hope you are feeling better

Unfortunately nowhere in Brighton sells this stuff, I have to go to Burgess Hill (30mins drive away) or order online. Does your class give you a list of what you need? It is bamboozling, but I think if you just buy what you need for each project and build it up slowly, but the stuff is vvv expensive. annoyingly so.

oh no, i thought that there was probably nowhere to buy cake stuff in brighton, im trying to buy some sugarpaste! For my course i need a pipig bag, nozzles and apron plus £15 for ingrediants- that's what it says but there will probably be loads more i need!

Hey! I'm watching what you post. I come from a family of chocolate and confection makers. I am the third generation. It takes time to learn, but with what I see in these photos, you are quite talented!!!
